What is Truth?

Lies are the deadliest weapon in Satan's arsenal. They’re like a disease. Once you learn something, whether it is true or not, it cannot be un-learned. Ideas fester and grow. Slowly twisting your mind until you are completely deceived and don't remember the truth you once believed. A well-placed word can bring down an empire; start a cult, or genocide. ...
Yes, information by itself can be deadly. Even more so when the spreading of information is carefully monitored and controlled. If you twist the truth to your own ends, there's nothing anyone can do to stop you. Unless they know the truth.
But in this day and age, "what is truth?" Truth is whatever you want it to be. So if truth is relative, then there is no foundation—nothing to test the lies against. No point of contrast. No point of reference. And no way to know for certain whether or not you yourself have been deceived.
That's why it is so important to test all things against God's Word. Don't just believe what you're told. Be like the Bereans. Check, and re-check to make sure it's true, so that you won't be mislead.

Acts 17:11

New Living Translation (NLT

"11 And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica,
and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to
see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth."

John 17:17
New Living Translation (NLT)

"17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth."

1 Thessalonians 5:19-22New Living Translation (NLT)

"19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. 20 Do not scoff at prophecies, 21 but test everything
that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil."

John 14:6
New Living Translation (NLT)

“6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except
through me.”

2 Peter 3: 15-18
New Living Translation (NLT)

“15 And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— 16 speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.17 I am warning you ahead of time, dear friends. Be on guard so that you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. 18 Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.”
